About
Dr. Manopkawee’s research focuses on tectonic and fluvial geomorphology, landscape evolution, and landscape modeling using an integration of GIS, remote sensing, UAVs, and engineering survey techniques. His current research is working on the spatial and temporal adjustment of various active tectonic settings in northern Thailand and Southeast Asia, which are governed by the interaction between tectonics, climate, and bedrock erodibility. His aims of creating 2D-3D landscape models will benefit the exploration of geological resources, surface changes and evolution, and geological hazard plans and mitigation strategies. In addition to scientific research and teaching, he also serves as a proactive PR team member of the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, and a head of Chaing Mai University's Earth Science Olympiad camp. Outside of his roles in academics, in his free time, Dr. Manopkawee enjoys hiking, running, and gardening.
